these pages are about my heroes for the want of a better word – the intention is also slightly ironic because inevitably you are disappointed by your heroes even if it is only because they die or you weren’t alive when they were or they reveal that they have in fact been a devotee of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi for the last 32 years
it is like an evolving public conversation with myself about the dozen or so thinkers ; writers ; creative people who have been and were/are most important to me in my quest for truth and beauty – and who have (if you will excuse another cliché) changed my life and in some cases continue to change it
in some cases the particular importance of these people is as much about the time in my life when i happened upon them as their actual work and ideas – i could have chanced upon kiergegaard but i never did – in some cases it is as much about who they were and how they lived their lives as revealed in their (often posthumous) letters and diaries as well as their ‘official’ output
as with everything it is a work in progress – to begin with i aim to write a paragraph or two about each and to identify their significant (to me at least) works and to collect links to useful and/or interesting sites about them as i discover them
